Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you.
Psalm 9:10
So many times I have struggled with simply trusting Him. This verse makes me question then -Do I really know Him?? If I do, shouldn't the trusting part come easily?
The second part about this verse that made me take pause (selah) was - For You O Lord do not abandon those who search for You.
How many times have I felt like God wasn't as close as usual? Even becoming frustrated that I couldn't FEEL (there is that word again) Him near.
But here is another reminder that He is always close. He doesn't retreat or abandon us, but it is us who have to seek Him.
Hmm, would love to chat with you (40 ladies) who are following along about your thoughts. Remember this was to be a community to share and learn from each other. I don't want this to just be a place I write and you read-zzzzz!
Comment, ask, engage!
I would love to even open it up to have some of you write the posts so let me know if you would be willing to do that. I promise I'll comment!

It's like you have written exactly my heart's wonderings. I KNOW that God is GOD yet I don't trust Him. I often retreat to myself looking for "how will we fix this" the whole time I hear Him saying, trust me!!!! But still struggle despite His reinforcement, and his constant reminders.
ReplyDeleteIt's like the disciples who saw His work first hand, they met Him face to face, watched Him feed 5000 and still questioned where the food for 4000 was going to come from!
I read that and catch myself saying "you fools!" and God steps in with.. "how are you any different?" UGH...- Jennifer
I sometime wonder where do I end and God begins? I mean...I don't want to be irresponsible... but I want to trust. For example, if you need a job, you still need to hand out resumes. If you are to write an exam, you still need to study. Many times we still "need" to take action. We have to trust in the Lord, but also make wise use of our time, talents and our treasures. Right? (I'm sincerely asking) ...I guess it is all in having discernment about the actions we take...listening to the Lord, being obedient and trusting him with the rest. Easier said than done :)
ReplyDeleteA man was caught in a flood, sitting on the roof of his house, and praying and trusting the Lord. After a while, a rowing boat came by and its owner offered him a lift. The man said, "No thanks. I'm trusting in God". Next a helicopter came and he gave the same reply. Eventually the man drowned. When he stood before the Lord, he said, "Lord, why didn't you save me? I trusted You." The Lord said, "I sent you a boat. Then I sent you a helicopter. What more did you want?"
ReplyDeleteCute!
I think trusting isn't sitting back and waiting for God to make the next chess move on the board of our lives. If He did what would be the point of free will? We need to ask for His guidance and then have confidence that we are in step with His will. And I don't know about you, but in my life He makes it super clear if I'm heading in the wrong direction! And yet, when I do go the wrong way He so lovingly uses that mistake as teachable moment.
I completely agree! For me though, there have been very few times that I knew for 100% certain what God has wanted me to do. I am praying that I hear the Lord more clearly. I am a fairly new Christian and I believe, as I develop a closeness with Him, I will also hear Him more clearly. In the meantime, it can be a little stressful trying to understand what the Lord wants me to do :)
